Dr. Berg talks about what to do on keto (ketogenic diet) with a Hashimoto’s (hypothyroid) condition. This condition is not just a thyroid condition, its an IMMUNE condition (autoimmune), which usually gets triggered just after some stress event (loss, pregnancy, trauma, injury, etc.). The thyroid is sensitive to environmental chemicals especially estrogen and cortisol and even nutritional deficiencies. Yes, reduce gluten and sometimes even dairy if you are sensitive, but here’s a list of items that are also important:
1. Selenium
2. Cruciferous vegetables – to increase glutathione (powerful immune builder) and to help regulate estrogen.
3. Sea kelp to provide iodine and other minerals like selenium.
4. Healthy Keto and Intermittent Fasting is also vital. One meal a day (OMAD) is essential due to a slow metabolism.
5. Vitamin A from cod liver oil would be important
6. Vitamin D is also vital for your immune system.
7. Purified Bile Salts, which assists in the conversion of T4 to T3.
