Keto Guide – Alcohol.

Keto Guide – Alcohol.

Hello my fat adapted family! Here’s MY guide to foods you can eat when in ketosis.

Today’s topic is alcohol.
I just want to clarify that these are MY opinions as someone who has been in ketosis for quite a few years now. You may not agree with my guides and that’s okay. This may not be the guide for you. At the end of the day, it’s your keto journey/diet/lifestyle, I’m just putting my 2 cents in here to try and help some people with the information I promote.

Most calculations are for 100 ml (6 fluid ounces) of said alcohol. These calculations can vary depending on brand, type etc.

– If you are doing keto for weight loss, keep the alcohol at a MINIMUM. Alcohol will not help you lose weight, it may do the opposite.

-Alcohol usually doesn’t show nutritional information, if you’re unsure, go to the website of the alcohol or an app like MyFitnessPal.

– DRY wines such as Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Champagne and Savignon Blanc are all acceptable wines to drink.

– Pure spirits such as Whiskey, Brandy, Vodka, Tequila etc are usually 0g of carbs.
MAKE SURE YOU PAIR your spirits with a sugar free drink.

– Don’t buy or drink cocktails, they are basically alcohol with liquid sugar. You can make some of them (keto friendly) at home.

– Alcopop and wine coolers are just sugar bombs. Don’t drink them.

– Cider is just fermented apple juice. They’re just fructose AKA sugar. Don’t drink them.

– DON’T drink liquerers. They can be anywhere between 7-30g of carbs for a 37ml (1.2 fl oz) serving.

– Liquid Bread AKA Beer. Avoid, avoid, avoid! There are light beers but if you are doing keto for weight loss – you should be avoiding beer more than anything.

That’s pretty much it!
