Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, commonly known as ADHD is a worldwide problem that affects both adults and children. It’s characterised by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity.

Currently, there is a debate about whether this disorder is “real” or if the symptoms associated with ADHD stem from other issues.

Recently, more discussion has occurred about potential dietary interventions that can help with ADHD, especially in kids and youth. Several reports point to sugar intake as the primary culprit for a lot of the symptoms seen in children with ADHD and that inattention is proportionate to sugar intake.

More studies need to be done on the ketogenic diet and ADHD, but one study found that after 20 months on a ketogenic diet, the childrens’ alertness, cognitive functioning and behaviour improved, alluding to the fact that the diet maybe beneficial in improving focus and attention in children who need it the most.
